(AP Reply) Hi there- the hobo is more like an oil pastel or grease stick. It does not have a cap but is instead protected by skin. Once you've removed the skin, you'll need to either use the whole marker or keep it in a bag/wrap.
The AP Solid is more firm but still more buttery than a Sakura. The Solid is equipped with a twisting mechanism and has a lid. It's encased in.a plastic body for easy transport.
