80s Car Commercial Inspires Retro Color Schemes
There is a wonderful video circulating You Tube that showcases a wonderful little car called the Isuzu Gemini. These little clips were aired in the late 1980’s in Japan to promote the second generation of these little 1.5 liter SOHC engines. The clips were filmed in Paris, France so they cleverly named the clips, “Dancing in Paris”. It is surprising that these wonderful little cars didn’t get more attention, due to their skillfully stunted and crazy commercials. The You Tube video strings together all of these wonderful ads to a pop song from our good friends over in Germany entitled, “She Moves” by pop star singer Karaja. Seeing all of these brightly colored little cars hopping and flying through the air inspires me to do bright pieces or heinously obnoxious pastel throw ups all around the city. I believe that the color of the Gemini’s, slightly resemble a few of the Belton Molotow colors: Cadmium Yellow, Traffic Red and Lagoon Blue. I would love to see some bright colored pieces, so please feel free to post them up in the forums or send them our way.
