New to This from Louisiana    Friday February 03, 2012 Asked this Question:
Subject: school art project
Question: I am planning a graffiti art project for my school and need some advice. We are going to purchase "red brick" hardboard wall panel to use for our background. The space will be a total of 8' W x 8' H. We will have multiple teenagers using the same space for small additions to the wall. What would be the best markers, etc for me to buy for this surface?
AP Reply: I see some potential problems. That is not enough room for a mural. Those kids need a lot more room to get loose. At least that much per student! Also If you are going with that Faux Brick material then you are going to run into an expensive proposition. A 4X8 sheet of that is $45-50.00. And to make an 8X8 you will need to put a substantial amount of your budget to a background only suitable for sprays. Yes this material will destroy the marker nibs and filling that kind of area with a marker is just going to take more time than its worth. Can the school just donate some wall space? there is always some old crusty Portable behind the gym needing some love. How about a mural outside! When the mural is old or needs to be rplaced all you will need is a $15.00 bucket of white primer and its like it was never there! You should all me I can work out some special pricing on Flame paint for Schools. thanks! -Dan
