DO DEM DIRTY MOP + GROCERY INK = DAMAGE

Postby syce on Wed Sep 17, 2008 10:23 am

OK SO THIS OLD SKOOL BOMBER WAS TALKING TO ME BOUT MIXING PAINT AND GROCERY INK TOGETHER. HOW IT LEAVES A SICK GHOST STAIN ON THE METAL AFTER IT IS BUFFED AWAY... ADD A DROP OR TWO OF DOT3 BRAKE FLUID, NOT MUCH... THIS SLOWS THE CURE ALITTLE AND ALLOWS THE INK TO SEEP INTO PORES OF THE SURFACE BETTER.

SO I TRIED IT WITH MY DO DEM DIRTY MOP + PURPLE GROCERY INK WHICH MAKES A KILLING DARK CHERRY COLOR. HIT A COUPLE OF TRAINS, N BUSES, LIGHT POLES, GARBAGE CANS, I'M TELLING YALL DA sh*t WON'T COME OFF.

SO WHAT DO YOU OLD SKOOL, NEW SKOOL BOMBERS THINK ABOUT THE MIXTURE OF PAINT N GROCERY INK???

ohhhhhhhhhhh
ive been meaning to get some of that, i heard its pretty dope...
but normally mixing paint with ink is generally a bad idea, unless they have the same base, like xylene based smash mixes well with xylene based paint.
or atleast paint with xylene in it.

Forgot 2 quote on this. Grocery ink is the sh*t they use to stamp cans.

Back in the day "70's" they used it to stamp the dates, prices, etc on cans in the store until the upgraded to the stamp gun. Some people still use it.

Old bombers use it for their home made mops. Mostly in NY...

yeah, rit dye is terrible for an ink base. that's why i didn't know what this kid was talkin about.
on the other hand, I've never tried usind the powder form of Rit to add any pigment to my inks, does anyone know how well it might work?

Trust it works, most of my tags are still up.

NKS:
acrylic paint needs to be thinned for markers.
if you want a permanent ink, any kind of outdoor semi-gloss/gloss canned paint (not spray paint) and paint thinner. Don't add to much.
<B>if you want a true old school ink, there are two types. grocery gun ink and carbon ink.
grocery gun ink used to be used in price guns, its had a high staining property.</B>
carbon ink: shred large amounts of carbon paper (not cheap) into a jar. and keep adding lighter fluid until you think it won't be to watered down to hold a carbon pigment. then once you let it sit for a while and it should turn dark and thick.

I'm not trying to revive an already, useles thread, because I think this thread should be deleted, but........

1.) 'grocery' ink as you put it, is used for marking price tags.....ie. GARVEY, is marking ink, ie.e grocery ink.

have you guys ever heard of ox13? its an oxidizer we use in the sign industry. It permanently blackens untreated metal. I was using it at work today and thought maybe some of you ink mixers who know what they are doing could really do some damage with this stuff. It really is impossible to my knowlege and use of it to remove.
